Project description:

MenDis-CHD focuses on the comorbidity of coronary heart disease (CHD) and mental disorders (MD), for example depression, anxiety and cognitive impairment. This project aims to analyze the trajectories and quality of care of highly vulnerable patients with coronary heart disease and mental disorders and also the detection and treatment of MD in all relevant health care institutions.

The goal is to use the structures of CoRe-Net for analyzing trajectories, potential barriers, and quality of care of patients with CHD with regard to the detection and treatment of mental disorders. The project additionally aims to develop possibilities for optimization regarding the treatment for patients with somatic and mental disorders to increase patient-centered and value-based health care.

Method:

Secondary data analysis: Analysis of Statutory Health Insurance (SHI) data regarding the prevalence of mental disorders in patients with coronary heart disease and their use of the health care system

Examination of patients: CHD patients (n=400) will be screened for mental disorders by a stepwise procedure and then a subset of patients (n=20 or more) will be interviewed qualitatively

Survey with relatives: quantitative surveys (n=350) and qualitative interviews (n=20)

Focus groups with health professionals (n=3–5) in cooperation with OrgValue
