Clinical Trials Centre Cologne (CTCC)

Clinical Trials Centre Cologne

CTCC is an operating unit of the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne (according to § 29 law "Hochschulen des Landes NRW" (HG)).

Clinical trials are an indispensable component of medical progress and innovation.

Only clinical trials allow the systematic analysis of the efficacy, tolerability and safety of new and already approved drugs, medical devices as well as new forms of treatments or medical interventions; hence the need for clinical trials as a prerequisite for the continuous optimisation of diagnostics and therapy. The principal task of the CTCC as an institution of the Faculty of Medicine is the support of clinical trials in compliance with GCP, international directives, guidelines and standards.

This applies to trials conducted with industrial partners, academic partners (Investigator Initiated Trials, IITs), and trials initiated by faculty members. The CTCC aims at raising the number of clinical trials conducted in the faculty in accordance with national and international standards, and contributing to the increase in the number of clinical trial participants. Consequently, the CTCC provides its clients with a complete range of infrastructure and services. As such, it offers its support for the informed, effective and quality-assured implementation and execution of clinical research and develops projects from concept to publication.

CTCC is obligated by the University of Cologne (UoC), by national law (i.e. AMG, MPG) and international regulatory bodies (i.e. ICH-GCP, DIN ISO 14155, DIN ISO 9001) to uphold quality standards. The quality management of the CTCC tends to ensure all quality relevant processes, arrangements and procedures. CTCC is certified in accordance with DIN ISO 9001. This signet stresses our ambition to fulfill expectations of clients, partners, providers and staff in order of legal requirements and our own approach.
